NAWA Scholarship Holders in Cairo – Research Conducted Under the Supervision of Prof. Osypińska

Two graduate students from the Institute of Archaeology at the University of Wrocław certainly cannot complain about the winter weather, as they have been in Cairo since 4 January. Aleksandra Jarosz and Natalia Miedzińska are undertaking a two-month NAWA research scholarship, organised by the Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology at the University of Warsaw.
During their stay, they are conducting research closely related to their master’s theses. Aleksandra is focusing on the syncretism of deities in Greco-Roman Egypt, using Apis and Isis as case studies, while Natalia is examining the biological and chemical processes involved in mummification during the New Kingdom period.

The scholarship holders are making use of the library resources of institutions such as CAŚ, DAI, IFAO, and the Greater Cairo Public Library. They are also actively participating in events organised by archaeological institutes and cultural centres across Cairo. Additionally, they have begun learning Egyptian Arabic and plan to visit Alexandria.
We take great pride in their achievements and are confident that their work will yield valuable results.
